LET THERE BE LIGHT!

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." (Genesis 1:2-3)
There are moments in life when everything seems to be falling apart. There are seasons when dreams appear shattered, hopes seem buried, and the future looks uncertain. Some people are walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Others are passing through dark tunnels of disappointment, rejection, sickness, failure, loneliness, financial hardship, and confusion. They have prayed, waited, struggled, and endured, yet darkness still appears to surround them.
The opening verses of Genesis present a picture that many people can relate to. The earth was without form and void. Darkness covered everything. There was chaos. There was emptiness. There was no visible sign of beauty, order, or purpose. Yet that was not the end of the story. God stepped into the darkness and spoke a simple but powerful command: "Let there be light."
The remarkable thing is that God did not first address the confusion, the emptiness, or the disorder. He spoke light into existence. Light became the beginning of transformation. Light became the answer to darkness.
Perhaps your life feels without form and void today. Perhaps darkness has covered your family, your marriage, your career, your ministry, your business, your academics, or your health. Perhaps you are struggling to understand why things are happening the way they are. You may be asking questions that seem to have no answers. You may feel abandoned, forgotten, or overwhelmed.
But hear this word of encouragement: God is still on the throne.
The darkness around you does not frighten God. The confusion in your life does not confuse Him. The problems that appear impossible to you are not impossible with God. Before God spoke in Genesis, He already knew what the finished creation would look like. Before He speaks into your situation, He already sees your victory.
Psalm 30:5 says, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
The night may be long, but morning is coming. The darkness may be intense, but daylight is on its way. No night lasts forever. No storm continues forever. No season of pain remains forever. The God who created the morning still controls the times and seasons of your life.
Jesus declared in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
When Christ enters a situation, darkness loses its authority. Fear begins to disappear. Confusion gives way to clarity. Hopelessness gives way to expectation. Weakness gives way to strength. The presence of God's light changes everything.
John 1:5 says, "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
Darkness has never been able to overcome light. Light does not struggle with darkness. Light simply appears, and darkness disappears. One candle can illuminate a dark room. One ray of sunlight can break through the darkest cloud. In the same way, one word from God can transform a lifetime of sorrow. One touch from God can reverse years of disappointment. One divine intervention can change the story of your life forever.
If you are discouraged today, do not surrender to despair. If you are confused, do not give up. If you are weary, do not throw away your faith. The same God who spoke light into creation is still speaking light into human lives today.
Perhaps your career seems stagnant. Doors appear closed. Opportunities seem distant. Declare by faith, "Let there be light." God knows how to create opportunities where none seem to exist.
Perhaps your marriage is under pressure. Communication has broken down. Peace has disappeared. Hope seems faint. Declare by faith, "Let there be light." God is able to restore what appears broken and heal what seems wounded.
Perhaps your academic journey is filled with challenges. Examinations, failures, uncertainty, and frustration have clouded your path. Declare by faith, "Let there be light." God can grant wisdom, understanding, and favor beyond human expectations.
Perhaps your finances are troubled. Debts, lack, and hardship seem to have become constant companions. Declare by faith, "Let there be light." The God who fed Elijah by ravens and supplied the needs of multitudes is still able to provide.
Perhaps your spiritual life has grown cold. Prayer has become difficult. Faith feels weak. The joy of the Lord seems distant. Declare by faith, "Let there be light." God can rekindle the fire and restore your passion for Him.
Isaiah 60:1 says, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee."
Notice that the scripture does not say your light might come. It declares that your light is come. God wants His people to rise above fear, discouragement, and hopelessness. He wants them to walk with confidence, knowing that His promises never fail.
Whatever confusion exists in your life today shall be cleared. Whatever darkness surrounds you today shall give way to light. Whatever storm threatens you today shall pass. Whatever burden weighs you down today shall be lifted. Whatever tears you are shedding today shall not last forever.
Hold on to your faith. Hold on to God's promises. Hold on to hope.
Remember that before resurrection came the cross. Before the crown came suffering. Before Joseph sat on the throne, he endured the pit and the prison. Before David became king, he faced giants and years of persecution. Before Israel reached the Promised Land, they walked through the wilderness.
Your present darkness is not your final destination.
The God who began a good work in you will complete it. The God who carried you this far will not abandon you now. The God who has preserved your life through every trial is preparing a testimony that will glorify His name.
Therefore, lift up your head. Strengthen your heart. Refuse to surrender to fear. Refuse to accept defeat. Refuse to believe that darkness has the final word.
Speak over your life today:
"Let there be light in my family."
"Let there be light in my marriage."
"Let there be light in my career."
"Let there be light in my academics."
"Let there be light in my finances."
"Let there be light in my ministry."
"Let there be light in every area of my life."
And as surely as God answered His own command in Genesis, He will cause His light to shine upon you.
There shall be light after the darkness. There shall be joy after the sorrow. There shall be clarity after the confusion. There shall be victory after the battle. There shall be restoration after the loss.
For no matter how dark the night may be, the day will surely come.
Let there be light—and there shall be light.
